The Flavors of Summer

Remember Thrify's Ice Cream? When we were kids it was 15 cents a scoop. One of the few summer treats our family could afford. Well, guess what? It's still here. Tucked inside Rite Aid. Real Thrifty's ice cream cones.

And a new store opened up just down the road. This time the ice cream guy recognized us... I think we will soon be on a first name basis.

I had the brownie chunk. I said double scoop, but I am pretty sure it was a triple. Well, you don't argue with the Thrifty ice cream professional, right?

And isn't this fun? A flag for $1. from the thrift store. Thought it would inspire your creative 4th of July juices.

Blessings to you!

  1. Yum... I love ice cream. Wish we had a Thrifty's! The flag is a great find. It will make a wonderful photo prop for you.

  2. Rebecca~

Thrifty's was one of my childhood treats :-) We rarely could afford places like Baskin Robbins, but Thrifty we could! And I think it tasted better.
I found out about Rite Aide having Thrifty's ice cream about 5 or so years ago...but we don't have one exceptionally close. I really need to remember to treat my kids there more cheap and tasty!

  3. Thanks ladies!

Fun Sommer! Don't those "square" scoops bring back the memories? Love that you can relate to this with me.

I know, I don't get out much. I still wouldn't know that Thrifty's ice cream was in Rite Aid if they didn't open one just down the road. : )

  4. Hi Rebecca! I was wondering what kind of camera you use. I am looking to upgrade but am not sure what route to take. Any help would be SO appreciated! Also, were you able to try and email me the music text you use when singing with your family?

    Blessings to you-

  5. That ice cream looks deeelicious. Yum!

  6. Thrifty's! I always got bubblegum and then carried a cup to spit the gumballs into as I ate the ice cream. It was like a prize when the ice cream was gone ... slobbery gum.
The thought of it now ... blech!
Second favorite, mint chip. It's what my mom always got ... and I want to be like her. :)

  7. One of the few traditions I had as a youngster - Thrifty's icecream after church every Sunday. Very fond memories indeed! It's fun to bring the kids for ice cream to the same Thrifty's that I went to as a girl =)

Wonderful pictures! Maybe you could post a how-to sometime.

  8. Hi Ladies!

Oh Dana~ you are too funny my friend. Ok, so did you like the bubble gum flavor, or just the gum afterwards? I love the visual. Somehow that seems like a Little Miss thing to do. : )

Cathy Craig! We were just thinking about you! How fun that you did that every Sunday as a girl! So sweet! I bet your babes enjoy going to the same ice cream place mommy did.

  9. Rebecca, how delightful to find your blog! And what wonderful pictures you take!

All that ice-cream brings back fond memories of my Dad stopping for ice-cream on the long drive home from my grandparents on the weekends. You are definitely making sweet memories with your children.
