SOMEONE'S IN THE KITCHEN WITH GRANDMA

Tom's mom came out to stay with us this week. She is the quintessential grandma- helping the girls with crochet and teaching us to can strawberry jam. She bought us the canning supplies years ago, but to be honest I was pretty sure I would do it wrong and kill us all. So... I never tried.

Mom showed us step by step how to do it. And really- it wasn't that bad.

First, she bought the ripest of berries- just picked that day. Then she explained that measuring your sugar is very important to the setting process. So we measured. And then Hailey spilled a little. *smile*

We washed and chopped, stirred and poured until all the work was done. Then we sampled the berry goodness. The girls love it on bread and Tom loves it on ice cream.

We all had such a good time. And we hope she comes out again real soon!

Blessings to you!

  2. Looks like fun was had by all. Sweet family and jam! I don't make jam for the same reason.

  4. HA! Thanks Kelly and Allison- I appreciate knowing I am not alone!

And thank you Kelly- I really appreciate your prayers. God is good- although we still have no answers regarding our little Lydia. How soft He makes our hearts through trial though. : )

Gabe- Thought of you my friend. And missing you. Will you be at CVP Sunday?

    Love,
    Rebecca

  5. So glad you had a chance to tackle canning jam. I just love homemade jam! Now you have to be brave and try other berry combinations. :)
