OUR MORNING {in photos}

Hailey is the last one up.

Oatmeal is one of her favorites.

The fireplace keeps the whole house warm, so I brave the cold
outdoors to keep it fed.

Lydia helps to empty the dish washer.

Little boots wait by the front door- just in case.  These boots really love puddles
and want very much to go back outside.

This is the table where Mama eats humble pie.  No, I never, ever win...

The dining room.  To honor Pa we framed some of the things we love best-
he is our protector, he plays with us and he spends time talking things out with us.

Those shelves really need dusting.  Shhh... I will get to it someday.  :)

We seem to have books in every nook and cranny.  We have several stored in
those white IKEA magazine holders on the bottom shelf.

Hailey "organized" the trains while waiting for her breakfast.

Isn't the morning a wonderful time to start a simple stew (or a pot of beans or soup)?
The smell is delightful and it really takes the worry out of dinner time.

We all must spend time in the Word each morning.  Because we just can't draw
water from an empty well.

Everyone finishes up their chores before school.  Sarah is responsible for cleaning
the girl's bedroom.

Faith tidies up the kitchen and the girls take turns leading the singing
during chores.  Hymns and praise songs.
I guess rainy days and Mondays just don't get them down...

Blessings friends,

You may notice a new item in our sidebar.  It is the DVD cover for a wonderful documentary made by our very dear friends, the Wintons.  We were so very excited to hear that their important film made it into this year's semi-finals for the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival (SAICFF)!  That's right, their first film effort and they made it to the semi-finals.  So very like them.  Check it out here.

  1. Love this peek into your day! Dust on shelves, yes, we have some of that here too. And I know the base board could use a good cleaning. But I know my kids are growing up too quickly and the time we spend with them is so much more important than having a spotless home!

  2. Thank you Yvonne. So true. I usually like to tackle those deep cleaning chores as a group for that very reason-- I make a list of things we need to accomplish and people sign up for a chore. We work together and then rest (maybe enjoy a read aloud) together. :)

    Blessings to you!

  3. I love those silhouettes of Dad and children! Did you make them? Just gorgeous!

  4. Thanks Amanda! I just Googled silhouettes of dads and kids or something like that and used a few that came up. You can print them or print and trace them so you can modify them to add a skirt or hair etc. I used a Sharpie to fill mine in. As you know, you do have to be careful with any search- and since I was looking for silhouettes I asked the kids to give me a few minutes :)
