Day 1 Drive day- We begin our journey! We made a few stops along the way. Okay, a lot of stops.
Here are a couple: below we stop so the girls can photograph Mt. Shasta.
And for a snack and leg stretching stop at Jamba Juice.
"I do enjoy my family. I don't know why I always feel like I am in a hurry... although it did take 10 hours for a 5 hour drive." ~Pa
For some reason Tom decided we'd drive through the night on the return trip. It was a lot faster. : )
Day 2 Crater Lake
After staying the night at a Super 8, the girls sleeping like sardines sideways on the second queen bed, we were off to see Crater Lake.
"I love to be with my family.
I cannot wait to see Crater Lake today!
I am so excited to be on a 1 week vacation again."
~ Michaela, age 9
"Crater Lake was gorgeous.
I literally caught my breath at the sight of it.
...my soul was almost speechless.
'Thank You' to God was all I could say."
~ Rebecca
Can you see the reflection of the land in the water? Pictures cannot begin to do this sight justice. It was like a slice of heaven. There is something soul stirring here- the air was crisp and clean, the water was an incredible shade of blue. I just had to sit and soak it in for a while.
"O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep." ~Psalm 92:5
Coming from 100 degree weather in California we were delightfully surprised to find snow on the ground. What a fun treat!
There was snow balling...
Dares to run barefooted...
and frozen toes and piggy back rides for the brave soul that did it.

Welcome back! What beautiful pictures. I will comment more later, but I am running to the post office and was hoping I could get your address before I left. I have the Love & Respect book that you won from my blog, if you are still interested. You can email me at serenaharkless @ comcast.net
ReplyDeleteThere is something not often seen, sweet little girls in pretty little dresses - playing in the snow! I love it!
ReplyDeleteCrater lake is beautiful ... we've never been, but its on the list.
Welcome home!
Hi Serena!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I never e-mailed you. I actually didn't know your address, then I got busy prepping for vacation.
I am so excited about reading this book! Thank you so much for your very generous offer. I know that it will be a real shot in the arm.
I am having e-mail trouble right now. I am not able to send anything, but I will keep trying until I get through to you. : )
Hi Dana!
I am so glad we stopped- we almost didn't. Something about the calm of the lake really ministered to me in a way that other sights just never have.
Yes, sundresses to boot! It was warm! The locals said they had a lot of snow this year and it just started warming up 4 days before we got there so it hadn't yet melted.
Blessings to you sisters!
Rebecca
What lovely pictures! Crater lake is beautiful although I've only seen it in pics or from afar. The drive from CA through Oregon and WA is always so breathtaking. I especially like seeing the joy in your girls' faces as they run through the snow. I know my girls would love that:-)
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Sommer
Awesome Photos!
ReplyDeleteHi Sommer!
ReplyDeleteWe thought we missed the snow this year! It was great!
Hi Shane!

ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren. You are so sweet. : )
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteThat is the Jamba Juice in my hometown! Next Oregon vacation you have to stop for a visit...
Loving looking through the photos. I have been so inspired by your photography that I bought my husband a nice digital camera for Christmas. Shhh... :o)
Your New Friend,
Lisa :o)
Hi Lisa!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I hope he enjoys the camera.
Blessed to have friends in Redding. : )

Ok, so I know this is an old post, but I've only recently found your blog and I'm reading up everything I can. I've already decided that I need to go back through a number of the posts slowly to really chew on them. I've elected to make Colossians 3:12-14 a passage to chew and meditate on this week because of another post. Thank you for your Godly wisdom!
ReplyDeleteNow, on to the reason for my comment. I just had to share... before marrying 5 years ago and moving to the east coast, I spent that last 6 months living between the LA area where I am from and my parent's home in southern Oregon. I made a bunch of trips back and forth by car and every time (almost without fail) I stopped at that exact Jamba Juice! Oh Jamba Juice! I miss it. We don't have one here. Have one for me sometime, will you?
